Albums of the Week (Issue #7) December 21st, 2025 - December 27th, 2025 1) Various Artists -  A Christmas Gift for You From Philles Records      Christmas Music - 1963      A classic Christmas record that is a must listen for anyone in a jolly mood. So much of the best Christmas covers come from this one.   2) Idrissa Soumaoro et l'Eclipse de L'I.J.A. - Ampsa: Le tioko-tioko      Mande Music - 1978     A lot of fun, groovy rock adjacent tunes in this. Perhaps the most surprising thing to me about this album is how accessible it is based on sound with its use of organs, acoustic guitar, and other western instruments. A pretty cool rare album that deserves a listen. 3) Daniel Barenboim/Frédéric Chopin - Nocturnes      Romanticism - 1982      A stellar recording of all 21 nocturnes written by Chopin. Albums of the Week (Issue #6) December 14th, 2025 - December 20th, 2025 1) Kenny Dorham - Trompeta Toccata      Hard Bop - 1965      A great series of stellar solos in Dorham's last album. The second side of this LP really shines from the groovy rhythm of "Mamacita" and the explosive energy of "The Fox." 2) Sparks - Nº1 in Heaven      Electro-Disco - 1979      A must-hear collaboration between the Father of Disco and the eccentric world of Sparks. If music had superpowers, this album would transport your body to another dimension.   3) Kylie Minogue - Impossible Princess      Art Pop - 1997      Initially panned upon release, Minogue's 1997 album is a portrait of a person diving headfirst into their own world of alienation through its otherworldly production. A very simple musical setup for an experience that captures the little joys and sadness in life. 2) Eno - Another Green World      Art Rock - 1975      A new art rock sound that came before Eno's collaborations with David Bowie and Talking Heads. Blending ambient pieces with some great lyrical tracks, the influence of Eno's 1975 album is a little snowball rolling down the mountain and getting larger. 3) Dog Faced Hermans - Hum of Life      Art Punk - 1993      This short but exciting piece of punk music combines different sounds from different cultures and fuses them into an original piece of musical greatness.
